French M1842 Yataghan Brass Hilt Curved Bayonet & Scabbard - Second Model
This is a heavy bladed Yataghan artillery carbine bayonet first developed as the French Model 1840 and redesigned as Model 1842 with a longer and heavier blade and cross guard made of steel instead of brass. This is the second of two models.
It has the typical ricasso marks, leaf spring fitting, and a heavy steel scabbard. The scabbard is numbered 815.
There is a little surface rust on the blade.
The bayonet is approximately 27" (685 mm) long with a 22.16" (563 mm) blade.
