Description
Lovely demistasse cup and saucer used by the Japanese Imperial Navy. Both pieces feature the fouled anchor with chrysanthemum flower in gold overglaze with matching gold stripes around the rims. Both pieces also have the lettering YSPD which I've been unable to track down. The cup stands just under 2 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches in diameter. The saucer measures 4 3/4 inches in diameter. Both pieces are in excellent condition, obviously treasured all these years. The Fukugawa backstamp dates fro 1900-1920. The cobalt blue color is much deeper and darker than my pictures show. Great set for the military collector. For your consideration is a WWII era Imperial Japanese Navy plate. The plate features a fouled anchor with a chrysanthemum flower in red with gold colored stripes around the rim and well. Made by Nagoya Seito Kaisha (which later became Meito) on the back, it also features a crown and various marks. This particular pattern was used in the Senior Officer's Mess. The plate measures 7 1/2 inches in diameter and is as close to mint as one would find. ThisThanks for looking!
