USS Vermont BB-20 Sailors w/ Ships Dog c 1909

Description

Three photos of USS Vermont BB-20 seen in 1909. These photos were taken shortly after the Vermont's military masts were replaced by new cage masts which were installed as soon as the Vermont completed circumnavigation of the globe with the Great White Fleet.
1) The 5 1/2" x 4" cabinet photo (cabinet card: 8" x 6") has handwritten notes in the upper right reading that this photo was taken at Charlestown (Boston) Navy Yard, 1909.
2) The 8" x 6" photo (cabinet card: 9 5/8" x 6") shows six sailors with their best buddy, the USS Vermont's mascot dog.
3) The 8 1/8" x 6" photo (cabinet card: 12"  9 3/4") shows some of the guys standing in front of one of the two newly installed cage mast's.
The crew member who owned these photos is marked by an "x" in photo no. 1 and by the initials M.S.R. in photos nos. 2 & 3.
