Please stay safe and healthy - thank you!Up for sale rare brown leather officer field map bag. Both leather and stitching are in good condition, there is a crack in clear vinyl on the left side. Please note letter "I" on the vinyl phased out by Soviet government from Russian alphabet in 1918. Do not be fooled by Bulgarian and other Eastern European look-like insignia items sold by some sellers as Russian Imperial!
6 1/2" width, 8 3/4" height. There is normal wear on the bag due to the age.
Historical reference: officers filed map bags were first introduced on August 31st 1912, under the order #458 Russian Imperial army adopted the new type of officer's field belts, map bag, sword suspension and holster. This type was used all the way through the Great war and used after the end of Empire in 1917 all the way through mid-1920s during the Civil war in Russia.
